The Challenge
Slow-moving goods are the bane of retailers and F&Bs. For most restaurants and bars, the responsibility of determining the stock intake usually lies on the shoulder of the chief/manager.
However, understanding the reason behind the fluctuations can be daunting. Our team realized that marketing trends, seasonal promotions, and even movie trends, can be the driving force of consumption after interviewing a few restaurant owners at Lan Kwai Fong.
The Solution
To ease the financial burden of overstocking, and the tragic of wasting perfectly edible-but-past-best-serving-time food, the least expensive way of solving the problem, isn’t building a blockchain-powered AI training model with a self-adjusting algorithm
Instead, our team chose to improve and optimize the decision-making process of the consumer by gaming their purchasing behavior.
We built a POS system that offers dynamic pricing that operates like a stock market. Prices increase with more orders, and vice versa.
The Result
- A restaurant located at Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong approached the team
- 3 teammates received job offers after the presentation
